History
Polo began in Hawaii in 1886 but died in Hawaii during the war. Indoor games were revived in 1950 at the Honolulu Stadium and the horses were kept at the stables at Kapiolani Park. Outdoor Polo was started again by the efforts of Fred and "Murph" Dailey. They reintroduced the sport by establishing the Waikiki Polo Club and organizing tournaments at Kapiolani Park. Dailey held polo matches at Kapiolani Park until 1963 when the City of Honolulu tore down the stables to build a rose garden. Dailey then bought and leased land from the Dillingham family and moved the now Hawaii Polo Club to Mokuleia on Oahu's North Shore. The area became the Mokuleia Polo Farm.
